OUTREACH PROJECT INFORMATION

"Talking about food is as popular a pastime as talking about the weather - the only difference is you can control when you eat and what you eat. Like the weather [climate change] our food habits have changed. No longer do people eat for nutrition - they eat for speed and convenience. Working with a group of senior citizens and talking about the types of food they ate makes you realize why they are still here today aged 84 – 97. Will this generation reach these ages?" — Martin Carter Martin Carter worked with a group of Senior Citizens from the Ardoyne Community Healthcare Centre to resurrect recipes from the past and bring a valuable awareness of alternative ways of preparing food to new generations. The project involved reminiscence, painting, photography, cooking and a lot of eating. Apologies to the staff for the dirty dishes! |
